I don't plan to throw it around or bang it on the concrete so I should be fine. It has trouble picking things up in tight spaces as it has a large scooper. It tears up a little grass but at least it picks up the mess. As someone who doesn't want to bother with the tiring efforts of walking, petting, and feeding a dog, I thought this product would at least relieve me of one bothersome task - waiting for my dog to squat and plop. Maybe it's just my dog, but no amount of coaxing will get him to use this thing. I've tried leaving it by the front door. I've tried putting a doggie biscuit in the jaw scoop and laying the scoop next to his favorite tree. I've even tried using the product myself - you try explaining to the cops why you felt the need to leave a Lincoln log in your own driveway. When I told them that I was trying to show my dog how to use the scoop they looked at me like I was an idiot. NOT GOOD FOR LAZY OWNERS   August 2, 2010 Mrs. H (California, USA) I have had dogs my whole life and thought i would try something new this time by purchasing this scoop. i have always used the two piece metal "dust pan" type of scoop before but thought with the great reviews i read i would give this one a try. Although i call myself lazy in the title, i think that there are a lot of people out there like myself. I scoop poops once a day...thats it... no more... no less. If you are like me DO NOT BUY THIS SCOOP unless you also carry around your poop bucket. the jaws only allow you to pick up one... maybe two poops at a time. I have a big yard so i have to make trips back and forth to the garbage. the dust pan type scoop works much better if you are like me. If you only like to pick up one poop at a time this scoop is AWESOME. Hope this helps someone make there choice. 3 dogs and 4 years now   July 22, 2010 M. Mansour (New York) I dont know what the people who have given this item one star are talking about unless they simply got one of these that had a factory defect. I purchased mine here on amazon 4 years ago...May 2006. I have 3 dogs to clean up after and have used this item several times per week over the last 4 years and have never had a problem with it.
