Excellent alternative to the paper version August 9, 2010 Rob Hooft 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a 10+ year subscriber to the IHT I will not dwell on its well-established quality. Both factual reporting and expert commentaries are unsurpassed. The electronic version is great because it delivers at ~4 am (Berlin time) as opposed to snail mail delivery at noon (that is to say, if there is no local holiday or strike). The Kindle version is delivered wherever you travel (within reason)- great not to depend on Hotel WiFi, and has the advantages of clipping and dictionary lookup. Flipping from article to article is a bit slower than using paper, but navigation on the Kindle is made quite easy, and you can now read our paper even when it is windy...
The electronic version will have all the articles (I checked carefully against a print edition). What is lacking is the comics, the chess/bridge sections and the ads. Only one or two pictures are included.
Overall, I found switching to the electronic version an excellent deal.
Two months' subscription - September 2010 June 17, 2010 Mme Josephine Mei (Grenoble, France) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've been reading the newspaper for about two months now and I think it's fantastic. I'm beginning to understand the approach to world events which is very different from French journalism. I was horrified to find that earlier in the summer the tragic flooding in the Var (twenty-five deaths) was not immediately reported but two days later an article did appear. For the time being, I'm very satisfied with my subscription.
good journalism, worth the read. but. . . June 7, 2010 Leanne M. Staples 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I quite like the IHT and I would probably continue to subscribe to it on my Kindle. However, many of the articles come from the New York Times which I already subscribe to. I appreciate the global perspective and the articles on Europe that don't tend to make it into American papers.
Convieniance with a global perspective. April 26, 2010 Kevin Mcclear 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The IHT is a well formatted for the Kindle. It is the "Global Edition of the New York Times," and you will find redundancy if you read both papers, but it has a more global perspective than the Times. It is conveniently dropped into my Kindle, and fits comfortably into the morning commute.
The must have news source for those in the know. April 16, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In my opinion, the International Herald Tribune is a world class, in depth and intelligent news source. It gives the reader a relevant global view, it caters to the curious of mind and accomodates the needs of a busy schedule. The Kindle e reader platform adds clarity, mobility and effortless enjoyment to the whole process.
